The earthquake in Turkey has injured 236 people, and many buildings have been damaged.
On the evening of April 23, local time, data released by the Turkish Ministry of Health showed that the earthquake that struck the country on the 23rd injured 236 people, mostly due to secondary injuries caused by jumping from buildings to escape or panic.
Murat Kurum, Turkey's Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, said on the 24th that 7 buildings have been damaged in the earthquake so far, including one abandoned building that collapsed. Kurum stated that relevant departments are conducting a detailed assessment of the damaged buildings and will proceed with follow-up disposal and urban renewal work based on the results.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said that as of 9 a.m. local time on the 24th, 266 aftershocks have been recorded, 7 of which were between magnitudes 4 and 5, and another one exceeded magnitude 5.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake occurred at 17:49 on April 23 in Turkey (40.85 degrees north latitude, 28.15 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. CCTV reporter said that there was a strong tremor felt in Istanbul, and local communications were also affected.
