Shandong holds cross-regional practical drill for earthquake disaster relief
From May 7th to 9th, the Shandong Province "Mission Call · Qilu Lijiang - 2025" cross-regional practical drill for earthquake disaster relief was held in Dongying.
This drill was jointly organized by the Shandong Provincial Fire and Rescue Corps and the Shandong Provincial Earthquake Bureau. It is the largest and most comprehensive earthquake rescue drill in Shandong in recent years.
The drill simulated a magnitude 7.5 earthquake in Dongying, with a large number of houses collapsing, people trapped, and a series of secondary disasters.
After the simulated "disaster" occurred, the Shandong Provincial Earthquake Bureau reported the disaster information to the Shandong Provincial Fire and Rescue Corps, which immediately activated the major earthquake emergency plan. The corps mobilized earthquake rescue teams and search and rescue dog teams from 16 cities in Shandong, totaling more than 1200 officers and soldiers, more than 140 fire trucks, 10 search and rescue dogs, and structural experts from the Shandong Provincial Earthquake Bureau to the disaster area.
The entire drill strictly followed the principle of "real troops, real equipment, real combat, real training, and real assessment." It covered more than ten key links, including emergency response, order issuance, force deployment, assembly point inspection, political work, logistical support, air rescue, on-site rescue, guidance and assessment, and information reporting. The 72-hour intensive training included practical rescue subjects such as ruins search and rescue, horizontal (vertical) demolition rescue in confined spaces, and various types of wooden support.
This drill closely followed the needs of actual combat. New practical subjects were added, such as using rope systems to transfer injured personnel. Subjects such as water rescue, urban high-altitude rescue, and large-scale road traffic accident rescue were added based on the secondary disaster situation. Each participating team will participate in the comprehensive rescue drill in four practical scenarios. During this period, the Shandong Provincial Earthquake Bureau simultaneously conducted drills on subjects such as the establishment of a mobile seismic network, earthquake intensity assessment, and disaster loss assessment.
