A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Yilan, Taiwan! The entire island felt strong tremors, and the earthquake was clearly felt in Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou, and Putian in Fujian Province.

At 13:11 on October 24, a 6.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in Yilan County, Taiwan (24.55°N, 121.80°E), with a focal depth of 60 kilometers. The epicenter was located on the island, 61 kilometers from Taipei City. The earthquake caused strong tremors throughout Taiwan, and was clearly felt in Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou, and Putian in Fujian Province.
In addition, the Ministry of Natural Resources' Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami information bulletin stating that at 13:11 on October 24, 2021 (Beijing time), a 6.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in the waters off the coast of Taiwan (24.58°N, 121.72°E), with a focal depth of 39.2 kilometers. Based on preliminary seismic parameters, the Ministry of Natural Resources' Tsunami Warning Center determined that this earthquake would not trigger a tsunami.
The Ministry of Natural Resources' Tsunami Warning Center will continue to track and analyze seismic and tsunami monitoring data. If there are no significant changes in monitoring and forecasting conclusions, no further information will be released.
