A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Langfang, Hebei Province, with tremors felt in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, prompting a level three emergency response from the China Earthquake Administration.
Yongqing County, Langfang City, Hebei Province ( 39.42 degrees north latitude, 116.60 degrees east longitude) experienced a 4.2 magnitude earthquake with a focal depth of 20 kilometers.
The China Earthquake Networks Center officially determined: At 1:21 AM on March 26th, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Yongqing County, Langfang City, Hebei Province (39.42 degrees north latitude, 116.60 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 20 kilometers.
Following the earthquake, the China Earthquake Administration swiftly initiated a level three emergency response.
Reports indicate that tremors were felt in Shijiazhuang, Langfang, and Xiong'an New Area in Hebei Province, as well as parts of Beijing and Tianjin. No casualties have been reported.
The epicenter is 55 kilometers from Beijing. Tremors were felt across most of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The area surrounding the epicenter includes several villages within a 5-kilometer radius. Additionally, the epicenter is 13 kilometers from Yongqing County, 15 kilometers from Langfang City, and 55 kilometers from Beijing City.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Center's rapid report catalog, the area surrounding the epicenter within 200 kilometers has experienced 8 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or greater in the past 5 years, with this earthquake being the strongest.
Following the earthquake, netizens in Hebei, Beijing, and Tianjin reported feeling tremors.
The earthquake triggered a 2.9 magnitude aftershock.
Subsequently, at 1:25 AM, a 2.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in Yongqing County, Langfang City, Hebei Province (39.42 degrees north latitude, 116.57 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 15 kilometers. This earthquake was an aftershock of the previous 4.2 magnitude earthquake.
Over 250,000 people received early warning messages.
Following the earthquake, the China Earthquake Early Warning Network automatically generated early warning information, and the WeChat mini-program “China Earthquake Networks Center” pushed early warning information to 251,692 users.
If the warning level is low and the estimated local intensity is small, there is no need to panic excessively; simply stay away from areas where high-altitude objects might fall.
