Gansu Province holds "Longyuan Lijiang 2023" earthquake relief and disaster relief drills

The drill simulates a 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Lanzhou New Area, with noticeable tremors in Lanzhou, Wuwei, Baiyin, Dingxi, Linxia and other areas. The earthquake caused a large number of houses to collapse, hundreds of people were trapped, and some roads, power, communication, water supply, and gas were interrupted. Secondary disasters such as forest fires, collapses and landslides, barrier lakes, and petrochemical leaks occurred in many places.

The exercise is set up in Lanzhou New Area as the main exercise site, and in Lanzhou, Baiyin, Wuwei, Zhangye, Pingliang, Dingxi, Longnan, Linxia, and Gannan 9 cities (prefectures) as sub-exercise sites. A total of more than 6,600 main combat forces are involved, including national integrated fire rescue teams, armed police forces and militias, safety production, engineering, medical, power, communication, railway, public security, transportation, earthquake, environmental protection, and meteorological professional emergency forces and social emergency forces.
